Born in the Philippines, to Missionary parents, Jayn began singing in country churches with brother David and their parents, naturally taking to "the stage" at the age of two.
During the early-mid 1960's, Jayn sang mostly in churches and performed in theatre and musicals at school. In 1969, Jayn and her brother, David started a singing group, "Children of Light" ,(read more about that in "about" page) and began writing songs - mostly gospel-related. In 1983, Jayn (under the name Jayn Porter) was recommended by Andre Crouch as a candidate to record a tribute album of his music. "My Tribute" was released early in 1984. After touring and promoting the album across the United States, Jayn went on to write, teach and direct musical theatre in Southern California. Over the next thirty years, Jayn continued to perform for benefit concerts such as "Flood-Aid" and limited engagements at various churches, theatres and other venues. She continues to lend her voice to projects dear to her heart. How this musical evolved over the years, why it took so song, and how it was finally finished (at least in this spec form) is found in the "about page.
Jayn now lives, works, writes, sings and plays in Fayetteville Arkansas, alongside her husband Paul and father, Harold "Chilt" Chilton (who is a phenomenal musician and at 93 years young still "gigs out" 2-4 times a week).
Samuel has been surrounded by the melodies and message of The Merchant and the Lamb for years, which is why, in 2014, he jumped at the opportunity to collaborate with Jayn, his mother on this project.
Originally from Southern California, Samuel now lives in Northwest Arkansas with his wife and daughter.
It was evident from early childhood that Shana's voice was very rare. Shana grew up excelling in musical theatre, actively involved in countless performances in churches and theatres.
Shana started her musical journey soloing at the age of three for a bicentennial concert at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Southern California, singing before thousands. She has been, and continues to be an invaluable contributor to the completion of the Merchant and the Lamb.
Born in Southern California, Shana now resides in Northwest Arkansas, with her loving husband and four children
